Ruth is trained and experienced in the following evidence based modalities:

  • Interpersonal Therapy
    A form of therapy that focuses on relieving symptoms by improving interpersonal functioning.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
    A type of therapy that helps you to change unhelpful or unhealthy ways of thinking, feeling or behaving. 

  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
    An evidence based psychotherapy where the therapist and the client work with acceptance and change oriented strategies to reach a point of healthy emotional equilibrium working with concepts such as distress tolerance, acceptance and mindful awareness.

  • EMDR-A
    Structured therapy that encourages the patient to briefly focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements) which results in a reduction in the emotion associated with the trauma memories. Can be used for single event or multiple traumas.

    The practice of mindfulness allows you to focus your awareness in the present moment, and to acknowledge and accept your thoughts, feelings and behaviours as they occur.
